| West Green Installation of Artificial Banks |

Work is now underway to replace the West Green banks with artificial banks. This project is Volunteers are doing the work, with a sizeable saving in cost,and started about two weeks ago and already the north bank has competed the earth removal stage and work has started on the west bank to bring it to the same stage. The volunteers under the Green Convenor, George Sneedon have been working very hard indeed and thier hs been a good response with Hugh Murray, Ian Hume, George Tait, Walter Jamieson, Tom Adkin, Tony Bird and Martin Webb all contributing, well done lads. Any help is appreciated contact any of the above if you have time to spare.
Update 13th November Work on the excavation of the North bank is complete and work is well in hand on laying the first layer of blocks for the new banks. Excavation work on the west bank of the green is also nearing completetion. The volunteers are really pushing it with the weather no obstacle, great job. Update 30th November The first layer of blocks on the North and West banks of the green has been completed, and work is progressing on the pathway aroound to the seats below the canopy of the cluhouse, the project manager is certainly pushing the volunteers along, even although he had his week away golfing, as well as a Saturday off for the football, enough said about that? Update 3rd December Since the last update the lads have worked very hard, in all weathers, to catch up to the Project managers target of having the block work on both the North and West banks completed by the end of November. This was achieved by 3rd December and in addition earth removal on the south bank was one third complete. A Great effort chaps and what an achievement.

Update 14th February 2010 With a fairly lenghty period of snow at the turn of the year work was impossible for a a while, however as soon as the snow cleared, albiet it was followed by a long cold spell, the hardy volunteers set about the work again at an amazing pace, work almots every daylight hour available. The drainage and banks around the green have been completed and only now await the fitting of the astra turf, which is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday week, 23rd February. In the meantime the drainage work and the landscaping task along the fornt of the club and down to the Sincliar Street gate had the lads full attention, as can be see from the picture gallery it has transformed the fron tof the clubhouse, to have the hedge adjacent to the club trimmed back from the ageing mess it was, is a bonus we did not expect. The Satisitics so far, which indicate the amount of work put into the project are;Earth & Rubble excavated = 60 Tonnes Concrete Mixed and laid = 22 Tonnes Facing Brock Laid = 800 Concrete Bricks laid = 780 New Perforated rain Laid = 220 Paving Slabs laid = 220
Update 9th March 2010 Work has now moved on at a pace, the new pathway on the West and North side of the green is nearing completion. The bolockwork and paaing on all the banks is complete and the fitting of the astra turf is well way, tghe completion of work is in sight and what a transformation it makes to the West Green. Well done to a hardy small group of over 60s.
Update 22nd March The work on the is now virtually complete, the astra turf fitting is complete and only the ditches require to have the new gravel added and the pathway between tghe greens has to have the new stones added. The final statistics for the work, including the work done last year are Earth & Rubble excavated = 60 Tonnes Concrete Mixed and laid = 22 Tonnes Facing Brock Laid = 800 Concrete Bricks laid = 780 New Perforated rain Laid = 220 Paving Slabs laid = 220 and finally 1,650 Man Hours all of which have been voluntary by a dedicated team of members. The team involved throughout the project were, Hugh Murray, George Sneddon, George Tait,Walter Jamieson, Ian Hume, Tony Bird, and Tom Adkin with very valubale assistance from Martin Webb, Howard Turner, Martin Air and Stewart Cattanach. Well done to these members who willingly took on a massive project and completed on schedule and ALL FOR NOTHING
