Iain Macleod Does the Double

Iain_Macleod_Double_Champion_webOur own, Iain Macleod, ended what has been a fantastic season in the club where he won three singles trophies, including the Championship and Senior Championship. Iain further added to his achievements this weekend when he added the GBA Champion of Champions where he defeated Lenny Prow of Rhu BC 21 shots to 18 in the Final, he then added the GBA Senior Champion of Champions to his tally when he defeated Joe Carr, again from Rhu BC, by 21 shots to 15. Well done to Iain a magnificent Ambassador for the club.

In the other Finals two Cardross Ladies also completed the double for their club when Jaqui Waltham won the Champion of Champions by defeating Sylva Waldie form Garelochhead  21 shots to 12, whilst Eleanor Graham added the Senior Champion of Champions title to the Cardross tally by defeating Nanette Hazlett from Cove & Kilcreggan by 21 shots to 9. The Junior Championships was won by Graham Cameron from Cove & Kilcreggan who defeated Natalie Sharp from Colgrain 21 shots to 20 in what was an excellent game. A great day for Bowling in the Gareloch area

Reid McIntyre 2010
The Reid MacIntyre Trophy, seeded Mixed drawn Triples was played from Monday 17th to Thursday 19th August. The aim of the competition is to mix the new comers, ladies and gents, with the experienced players and hence give experience to all who played in the competition.
The competition attracted a very good entry of Triples and was played off in two sections, over the three days, playing 6 ends in each game.
After the section games the triples of Liz Smith, John Martin and Stephen Hepton Skip from the Run_nrs_Up_webRed Section who finished on 6 points from a possible 8, and from the blue section Dorothy Robertson, Mary Leech and Stewart Cattanach Skip who finished with maximum 8 points from their games, qualified to contest the final.
In the final played on Thursday the Stewart Cattanach triple got off to a tremendous start scoring a 4 at the first end, the Stephen Hepton triple then scored a 1, only for Stewart and his team to follow this scoring a 1 also. The Hepton led triple then fought their way back into game scoring a 3 to bring the score to 5 shots to 4, The Cattanach skipped triple added a further shot to go into the last end leading by 6 shots to 4. The last end saw the fortunes of the two team’s change almost every end, with the skips having only one bowl each to play, the Hepton Triple was lying 2 shots to force the Winners_Webgame into an extra end, Stewart Cattanach had different ideas reduced the shots against to 1 with his last bowl. Stephen Hepton played his last bowl which just failed to change the head and the Dorothy Robertson, Mary Leech and Stewart Cattanach Triple won the trophy by the narrowest of margins 6 shots to 5. An excellent final, nice to see new faces winning trophies.
